How Screen Mirror on your Android phone to ROKU (Easy Method)
To screen mirror your Android phone to a Roku device, you can use the built-in Miracast feature that most Android phones and Roku devices support. This lets you display your phone’s entire screen on your TV wirelessly. Here’s how to do it step-by-step.
First, ensure your Roku device supports screen mirroring. Most Roku TVs and players do, but some older or basic models might not. On your Roku, go to the home screen using your remote. Navigate to Settings, then System, then Screen Mirroring. Select Screen Mirroring Mode and set it to Prompt or Always Allow. This enables your Roku to accept mirroring requests. Make sure your Roku and Android phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network—check this under Settings, then Network, then About on your Roku.
Now, on your Android phone, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Settings panel. You might need to swipe down twice or swipe right, depending on your phone. Look for an option like Cast, Screen Cast, Smart View, Miracast, or Wireless Display—the name varies by manufacturer. For Samsung phones, it’s Smart View; for Xiaomi, it’s Cast; for OnePlus, it’s Screen Cast. If you don’t see it, tap the edit or pencil icon in Quick Settings to add it, or go to Settings, then Connected Devices, then Connection Preferences, then Cast. Tap the option to start scanning for devices.
Your phone will search for nearby devices. If your Roku doesn’t show up, ensure both are on the same Wi-Fi and that screen mirroring is enabled on the Roku. You might need to toggle Enable Wireless Display—look for it under a three-dot menu in the Cast settings. When your Roku appears (it might say “Roku TV” or a custom name), tap it. A prompt may appear on your TV asking you to allow the connection—select Allow or Always Allow with your Roku remote. After a moment, your phone’s screen should mirror to the TV.
To adjust the display, unlock your phone’s orientation by swiping down to Quick Settings and tapping Auto-rotate—this lets you switch to landscape mode for a better fit. To stop mirroring, go back to the Cast or Smart View menu on your phone and tap Disconnect, or press any button on the Roku remote to return to the home screen.
If your phone doesn’t support Miracast (like some Google Pixel models) or you run into issues, download a third-party app like Screen Mirroring for Roku from the Google Play Store. Install it, open it, and follow its prompts to connect to your Roku over the same Wi-Fi. It’s a workaround, though some free versions have ads. Keep devices within 30 feet and on a strong Wi-Fi signal for smooth mirroring—that’s it, your Android screen is now on your Roku TV.
