To get party chat in your headset and game sound on your TV using your PS5, follow these steps.

First, connect your headset to the PS5. If it’s wired, plug it into the 3.5mm jack on your DualSense controller or a USB port on the console, depending on your headset. If it’s wireless, pair it via the manufacturer’s instructions, usually through a USB dongle or Bluetooth settings under Settings, Accessories, General, Bluetooth Accessories.

Next, go to the PS5’s Settings menu. Navigate to Sound, then Audio Output. Set the Output Device to your TV or AV receiver to ensure game sound comes through the TV speakers. Adjust the volume here if needed.
Now, configure the microphone for party chat. Go back to Settings, then Sound, then Microphone. Set the Input Device to your headset’s microphone.

This ensures your voice goes through the headset for party chat. Test it by selecting Adjust Microphone Level and speaking, checking if the input bar moves.

To split the audio as desired, go to Settings, Sound, Audio Output again. Scroll to Headphones and select Output to Headphones. Choose Chat Audio. This setting sends only party chat to your headset while keeping game sound on the TV.

If you’re in a party, press the PS button to bring up the quick menu. Select Party, then Voice Chat Settings, and ensure Output Destination is set to Headset. This reinforces that chat stays in your headset.

Double-check your TV isn’t muted and the volume is up for game sound. If your headset has a mute button or inline controls, ensure it’s not accidentally muting the mic.
