Make sure you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. Cloud storage for game saves is one of the benefits included with PlayStation Plus.
Enable Automatic Uploads:

From the PS4 Home Screen, go to "Settings."
Select "Application Saved Data Management."
Choose "Auto-Upload."
Make sure the "Enable Auto-Upload" option is turned on.
Select Games to Auto-Upload:

In the same "Auto-Upload" menu, you can choose which games' saved data should be automatically uploaded to the cloud. Select the checkbox next to each game you want to include.
Manage Auto-Upload Settings:

You can also manage other auto-upload settings, such as whether to upload only when the PS4 is in Rest Mode or while it's powered on.
Rest Mode:

To ensure automatic uploads occur even when the PS4 is in Rest Mode, go to "Power Save Settings" in the "Settings" menu.
Then, choose "Set Features Available in Rest Mode."
Make sure the "Stay Connected to the Internet" and "Enable Turning On of PS4 from Network" options are enabled.
