How to Change your DNS Server on Motorola Phone (Android Tutorial)
Motorola phones run on a close-to-stock version of Android, so the process for changing your DNS server is the standard Android procedure. The best and most recommended method is using the Private DNS setting, as it encrypts your DNS traffic.
Here is a step-by-step guide for changing your DNS server on a Motorola phone.
Method 1: Change DNS for All Connections (Recommended)
This method uses Private DNS (DNS over TLS), which applies to both Wi-Fi and mobile data and encrypts your DNS queries for better privacy and security. This feature is available on Motorola phones running Android 9 (Pie) or newer.
You will need the hostname of the DNS server (e.g., dns.google or one.one.one.one), not the numeric IP address.
Open Settings: Tap the Settings app (⚙ ).
Navigate to Network: Tap on Network & internet.
Find Private DNS: Scroll down and look for Private DNS. (If you can't find it easily, use the search bar at the top of the Settings app and search for "Private DNS").
Select Hostname: Tap Private DNS and then choose the option Private DNS provider hostname.
Enter the Hostname: Enter the hostname of your chosen DNS provider.
