How to Add DNS Server to Android Phone Settings (Best Method)
The absolute best method to add a custom DNS server to your Android phone is by using the Private DNS setting.
This method works globally for both Wi-Fi and mobile data connections (if supported by your DNS provider) and is much more secure as it uses DNS over TLS (DoT) encryption. This feature is available on most Android phones running Android 9 (Pie) or newer.
Best Method: Using Private DNS
You will need the hostname of the DNS server you want to use (e.g., dns.google or one.one.one.one).
Open Settings: Tap the Settings app (⚙ ).
Find Network Settings: Tap on Network & internet (on Samsung devices, you might go to Connections More connection settings).
Find Private DNS: Scroll down and look for Private DNS and tap it. (If you can't find it, use the search bar at the top of the Settings menu and type "Private DNS").
Select Hostname: Choose the option that says Private DNS provider hostname.
Enter the Hostname: Carefully type the hostname of your chosen DNS provider. Do not use an IP address here.
