How to Check MBR or GPT Partition Style on Windows 11 PC (Secure Boot Perquisite)
On Windows 11, you can check if a disk is using MBR or GPT partition style using one of three primary methods: Disk Management, Command Prompt, or PowerShell. Secure Boot, a prerequisite for Windows 11, requires the system disk to be formatted with the GPT partition style.
Method 1: Disk Management
This is the most user-friendly method.
Right-click the Start button or press Windows key + X and select Disk Management.
In the Disk Management window, find the disk you want to check (usually "Disk 0" for your main drive).
Right-click on the disk name (on the left, where it says "Disk 0," not on the partitions to the right) and select Properties.
In the new window, click the Volumes tab.
Look for Partition style. It will show either Master Boot Record (MBR) or GUID Partition Table (GPT).
