How to Delete or Deactivate your Instagram Account (Fast Method)
0To temporarily deactivate or permanently delete your Instagram account, follow these steps. Note: These actions must be done via a web browser, not the Instagram mobile app.
To Temporarily Deactivate Your Instagram Account:
Log In on a Browser:
Open a web browser on your phone or computer and log in to your Instagram account.
Access Profile Settings:
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner to go to your profile.
Click the settings icon (gear or three lines).
Find Deactivation Option:
Scroll to the bottom of the settings or "Edit profile" section and select "Temporarily deactivate my account."
Provide Reason and Password:
Choose a reason for deactivating from the dropdown menu (e.g., "Need a break").
Enter your password when prompted.
Confirm Deactivation:
Click "Temporarily Deactivate Account." Your profile, posts, comments, and likes will be hidden until you log back in to reactivate.
Reactivate:
To restore your account, log in again with your username and password. Your data will be fully restored.
To Permanently Delete Your Instagram Account:
Log In on a Browser:
Open a web browser and log in to the Instagram account you want to delete.
Access Deletion Page:
Navigate to Instagram’s account deletion page through settings or the Help Center (search "Delete Your Account" in the Help section).
Select Reason and Password:
Choose a reason for deletion from the dropdown menu (e.g., "Privacy concerns").
Re-enter your password.
Confirm Deletion:
Click "Delete [Your Username]." Your account and all data (posts, photos, likes, etc.) will be permanently removed after a 30-day processing period.
Optional: Download Data First:
Before deleting, go to Settings - Privacy and security - Data Download - Request Download to save a copy of your photos, posts, and other data. Instagram will email you a download link within 48 hours.
