How to Control PS4 using TV remote with HDMI Device Link
To control your PS4 using your TV remote with HDMI Device Link (HDMI-CEC), follow these steps:
Ensure your TV supports HDMI-CEC. Most modern TVs do, but it might be called something like Bravia Sync (Sony), Anynet+ (Samsung), SimpLink (LG), or Viera Link (Panasonic). Check your TV manual if unsure.
Connect your PS4 to your TV with an HDMI cable.
On your PS4, go to Settings from the home screen.
Select System.
Check the box for Enable HDMI Device Link. This allows your PS4 to receive commands from your TV remote via HDMI-CEC.
On your TV, enable HDMI-CEC in its settings menu. The location varies by brand—look under System, Inputs, or a similar menu. Refer to your TV’s manual for the exact steps.
Once both are set, use your TV remote to navigate the PS4’s main menu. Directional buttons move the cursor, the Enter/OK button selects items, and the Back/Return button exits menus or apps. Some playback controls (play, pause) may work for media apps, depending on the app and TV compatibility.
