How to MUTE your Microphone on PS4 Console

To mute your microphone on a PS4 console, here’s what you can do depending on your setup:
Using the Controller Quick Menu:
Press and hold the PS button on your DualShock 4 controller to open the Quick Menu.

Go to Sound/Devices.

Select Mute Microphone. This will toggle the mic off. If it’s muted, you’ll see the microphone icon with a slash through it on the screen.
Adjusting in Party Chat:
If you’re in a party, go to the Party menu from the PS4 home screen.

Select Party Settings.

Choose Mute Microphone to turn off your mic for that party.
Using a Headset with a Mute Button:
If your headset or microphone has a physical mute button or switch, simply press or flip it to mute the mic. This works instantly without needing to adjust settings on the console.
Via System Settings:
From the PS4 home screen, go to Settings.

Select Devices, then Audio Devices.

Look for Microphone Level and adjust it to zero, or toggle the Mute Microphone option if available.
