First things first, we will need to go over the different options for adding mods to Minecraft 1.21 There are three main Minecraft mod types you can download for version 1.21 - Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge. This video will show you how to get Forge mods, but there are links above to guides on each mod loader. Generally, you will want to find the mods you want and use the mod loader that most of those mods support.
For this video, we will be using Forge, which leads us into the first step of how to download mods in Minecraft 1.21 - downloading Forge. There is a link above to download Forge. This will take you to our text guide on getting Forge. Here, scroll down and click the “Download Forge” button. On the Forge download page, select 1.21 in the left-hand sidebar.
Finally, go under download latest and click “Installer”. You’ll be taken to AdFocus where you can click “Skip Ad” in the top right to start download Forge after a few seconds.
We can now open up the Forge Installer using Java 21. You may need to get Java 21 even if you have had other versions of Java in this past as this version is new to being needed for Minecraft 1.21.
In the Forge Installer, click “Install Client” and click “Okay”. Forge 1.21 will now install.
From here, it’s time to go over how to download Minecraft mods for 1.21. There is link in the description above to CurseForge and Modrinth. Both of these are trusted sources to download Minecraft 1.21 mods. Make sure any mods you are downloading are for the 1.21 version of Minecraft and the Forge mod loader. If they aren’t they will not work.
Now, we can move on to how to install mods in Minecraft 1.21. To do this, open up Minecraft with your Forge installation. Then, go to “mods” on the main menu and click the “Mods Folder” button in the bottom left. Your Minecraft “mods” folder will the open.
Drag-and-drop any Minecraft mods for 1.21 you want to install into this mods folder. It’s that easy to install Minecraft mods in 1.21.
You aren’t finished though as you still need to restart Minecraft with your Forge installation in order to ensure that everything is activated and for the mods to work. When you do, your Minecraft mods will be active and working!
