How to FIX No Sound with PS5 Controller Connected to PC (Best Method)
This is a very common issue with the PS5 DualSense controller on PC. The problem is that Windows automatically detects the controller's built-in speaker and 3.5mm audio jack as a new audio output device and switches to it as the default. Since your headphones or speakers are no longer the default, you lose all sound.
The best and most permanent solution is to disable the controller as an audio device in Windows. This prevents the issue from happening every time you connect the controller.
The "Disable Audio Device" Method (Best Method)
Connect your PS5 controller to your PC via a USB cable or Bluetooth.
Open Windows Sound Settings:
Right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar (in the bottom-right corner of the screen).
Select Sound settings or Sounds from the menu.
Find and Disable the Controller's Audio Device:
In the Sound settings, look for the Output section. You will see a list of your connected audio devices.
Find the device that represents your PS5 controller. It's often labeled something like "Headset Earphone (DualSense Wireless Controller)" or simply "Wireless Controller."
Right-click on this device and select "Disable."
Verify Your Default Audio Device:
With the controller's audio device disabled, check that your regular speakers or headphones are set as the default output device. You can right-click on your preferred device and select "Set as Default Device" if it isn't already.
