Need help locking apps on your Redmi Note 8?
In this video, I will demonstrate the actual process of enabling app lock on Xiaomi Redmi Note 8.
MIUI App Lock Feature
Xiaomi smartphones running on M I U I 10 or later versions allow users to lock system apps with a PIN, pattern or fingerprint.
During the M I U I 11 rollout, more advanced security features were also pushed to eligible Xiaomi and Redmi devices. Among the most notable features is the system app lock.
When enabled, app lock will let you set a PIN, pattern , fingerprint, or face unlock to secure and lock some built-in apps and thereby prevent any unauthorized access to these apps on your Xiaomi smartphone.
Depicted below is the standard process of activating app lock on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 device.
Just follow these steps, in case you need help locking some of your system apps on the same Redmi phone.
Steps to Lock Apps on Redmi Note 8
When ready, find the Settings icon from your Home or Apps screen and then tap on it.
Doing so will let you access the main settings menu.
While on the settings menu, scroll down and tap Apps.
The Apps menu will launch, prompting a list of app-related features.
Tap App lock at the bottom of the list.
The App lock setup wizard will open next.
Tap Turn on and follow the onscreen prompts to proceed.
If you want, you can add and set up your Mi account so you will be able to restore your App Lock in case you forget it. Just tap Add to add your Mi account and then sign into your Mi account. Otherwise, tap Not now to skip account sign in.
On the following screen, you will be asked to select the apps that you'd like to use app lock for. Just tap to mark the desired apps.
You can also set up a fingerprint unlock to access all locked apps on your phone. Aside from fingerprints, you can use a pattern, password or PIN as the main unlock method.
The recent changes to your phone's app lock settings will then be implemented to all selected applications.
To check and see how it works, launch any of the locked apps from the Home or Apps screen.
You will then be asked to enter the PIN, password or pattern before you can open and access the app.
This setting applies to all apps you've selected to use app lock.
To disable this feature, just go back to the Apps settings menu and then toggle to turn off the App Lock switch.
