Factions is one of the most popular gamemodes of all time for Minecraft servers, and we finally have an in-depth guide here on the channel to help you get a Factions server of your very own up and running. Specifically, we show you the plugins that you need to start your very own Factions server and how to find the information you need to start configuring your Factions server. Thus, without any more delay, here is how to create a Factions server in Minecraft!
The first step of starting a Factions Minecraft server is downloading the plugins for your server. There are hundreds of different plugins that you could add to a Faction server. However, the main one is going to be your Factions plugin itself. There are a few different Factions plugins, but in this video, we are going to be using SaberFactions. This is a newer Factions plugin that adds in a lot of cool features that older plugins such as Factions UUID don’t. The config files are also pretty well documented, so you can easily change things and make the Factions server your own.
Once you have your main Factions plugin, we can get some other plugins that we recommend for Factions. These are EssentialsX for economy, warps, and tons of other features, LuckPerms for permissions, BetterRTP for random teleports, Auction House for auctions, FeatherBoard for scoreboards, ShopGUIPlus for your /shop setup, Vault to link all your economy together, World Edit for quick building, and World Guard for spawn protection and custom flags. This may see like a lot of plugins for a Factions server, but it actually just scratches the surface of what you will have in the end. Most Faction servers have well over 50 plugins.
Get all of these plugins installed on your server, and the config files will appear in the plugins folder on your server. You can and should change these and configure them to make them your own. If you don’t, your Factions server will be very generic. As I said, SaberFactions makes configuration easy. Most of the other plugins in this tutorial also have great documentation either in the config files themselves or on an external wiki.
You will also need to setup permissions for all of the plugins on your Factions server. For this, we recommend Luckperms. We have a complete guide on LuckPerms linked above. It’s actually a very easy permissions system to use for Factions. All of the plugins mentioned here have the permissions easily findable. If you don’t setup a permissions plugins, players won’t be able to do anything on your Factions server, so it’s super important to do this.
