Well, minimaps allow you to actually see a top-down view of your Minecraft world. They also add in things like way points which are a truly incredible and great way to find your way around your Minecraft world. Thus, without any more delay, here is how to get a minimap in Minecraft 1.16.5.
The first step of adding a minimap to Minecraft 1.16.5 is actually downloading and installing the Forge mod loader. You find our complete Forge mod loader tutorial in the description above. It goes over every single step of getting Forge for Minecraft 1.16.5 mini maps, and it even shows you some of the issues you could have when installing Forge.
Once you have Forge, we can move on to downloading our minimap for Minecraft 1.16.5. Specifically, we are downloading Xaero’s Minimap for Minecraft 1.16.5. There are many minimap mods for Minecraft out there. However, 1.16.5 Xaero’s minimap has all the features you want in a minimap without a lot of the bloat other minimaps have.
You can find find Xaero's Minecraft minimap download link in the description above. When you click that link, it will actually take you to our text tutorial for getting Xaero's Minimap. From here, click the yellow 'Download Xaero's Minimap' button. That will take you to Xaero's Minimap's official download page. Here, scroll down and look at the right-hand side until you see the 'Minecraft 1.16' section. Under that, you will see a version of Xaero's Minimap for 1.16.5. Click the orange download button next this. Your download will begin in a few seconds. You will need to keep/save the file depending on your browser.
Once you have your minimap file downloaded, it is time to get it installed. You can do this by pressing the Windows Key on the keyboard and ‘R’ at the same time. This will open up your Run application. In the text box in this app, type %appdata%, and hit enter. Your Roaming folder will then open. In this folder, you will find a .minecraft folder. Open that up, and you will see a ‘mods’ folder. If you don't have a mods folder, just create one. Finally, to install the minimap in Minecraft 1.16.4, just drag and drop the Xearo's minimap file you downloaded into this folder.
You aren't completely done just yet though. You still need to open the Minecraft Launcher, click the little arrow next to the play button select 'Forge', and click play. Minecraft 1.16.5 will then open up with a minimap installed!
