About this video: In this video, I show you exactly how to make a Paper server for Minecraft 1.14.4. Paper is a less laggy version of Bukkit/Spigot, and it is a must-have if you are running a server that is going to have more than 20 players on it. It gives you tons of additional settings, and on top of that, it makes Spigot's code much more efficient. It even adds in Async Chunk Loading. Something that will decrease lag on a Minecraft server like crazy. Thus, without any further delay, let's go ahead and go over exactly how you can start a Paper Minecraft server!
First things first, we need to download Paper. You can find the official Paper download link for 1.14.4 linked in the description above. Once you click on it, make sure you are downloading the 1.14.4, and just download the most recent version. You will need to keep/save the file. It is 100% safe.
Next, move the file to your desktop, and on your desktop, create a new folder. You can name this folder whatever you want, but my suggestion is 'Paper 1.14.4 Server' that way you can easily identify it on your desktop. Then, drag and drop the #Paper file you downloaded into this folder. Then, open the folder, right-click, select 'new' and then 'text document' and then open the new text document you created. In this document, paste the above code. After that, click 'file', 'save-as', and then, name the file 'run.bat'. Also, make sure, your save type as is 'all files'. Then, click save.
You will now have a file in your server's folder titled 'run.bat'. Double click on it. Your server will try to start but fail. You will now have an EULA document. Change 'EULA=false' to 'EULA=true'. Save the file, and double click on the 'run.bat' file again. Your 1.14.4 Minecraft #PaperServer will the start right on up!
Now, for your friends to join your server, you will need to port forward. Luckily, we have tons of documentation on port forwarding, and we have helped hundreds of thousands of people learn how to port forward over the years. You just need to forward port '25565' on the TCP and UDP protocols using your IPv4 address. After that, get your public IP address, and join right on in to your server using!
