About this video: In this video, we show you how to reset the world on your Minecraft server. No matter what kind of Minecraft #Server you have, this tutorial will show you how to get a new world on it. From a vanilla #MinecraftServer to a Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, or even Forge Minecraft server, this video will show you to get a brand spanking new world in it. We even show you how to keep player data when resetting a Minecraft world on a server. However, that isn’t recommended unless you want some potentially very weird issues with your server.
However, let’s go ahead and reset the world on your Minecraft server. Obviously, the first step of resetting your Minecraft server world is actually backing up your old one. You may be wondering why this is the first step of getting a new world on a Minecraft server. Well, the answer is simple. Should something go wrong, or should you decide you didn’t want to reset your world after all, you can rollback to your old one. Doing this is super easy. Just open up your Minecraft server folder, find the ‘world’ folder, and rename this folder ‘world_old’. This will keep the file where if you want to rollback to your old world, you would just rename it to ‘world’.
In doing the above, you technically just got a new Minecraft server world. How is that? Well, it is pretty simple. By renaming the server folder, it no longer exists. Thus, when you start your server back up, a new Minecraft world will be created. Thus, at this point, start your Minecraft server up, and join it in Minecraft! When you do, you will be in a brand new world.
With this method though, you will lose your inventory and all other player data. In most cases, this is actually what you want. The reason for this is that if you don’t lose all of your player data, you have the chance of players joining in underground and weird locations. Why? Because players will spawn in at the location they were at in your old world.
If for some reason, you want to create a new Minecraft server world with your old player data though, you will need to open the ‘world’ folder, and pull the ‘playerdata’, ‘achievements’, and ‘stats’ folders out to your desktop. Now, go back to your main server folder, and rename the ‘world’ folder to ‘world_old’. Again, this will save your old world in case you need to go back to it. Now, start your server. Before joining it though, open up the newly created ‘world’ folder, and drag-and-drop the ‘playerdata’, ‘achievements’, and ‘stats’ folders into it. Restart your server, and now you can join. Your inventory will still be there. However, you may spawn in a weird location or even trapped in blocks as you will spawn exactly where you were in the old world even though the terrain is different.
Nevertheless, you now know exactly how to get a new world on your Minecraft server.
