How to Search For Players & Add Friend on PS5 Account using PlayStation App on Phone
2To search for players and add a friend to your PlayStation 5 (PS5) account using the PlayStation App on your phone, follow these steps:
Open the PlayStation App:
Launch the PlayStation App on your iOS (14.0 or later) or Android (8.0 or later) device. Sign in with the same PlayStation Network (PSN) account linked to your PS5.
Access the Friends Section:
From the app’s home screen (Play tab), tap the Friends icon (people icon) at the bottom to open the Game Base.
Search for Players:
Tap the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the Friends or Game Base section.
Enter the player’s Online ID (their PSN gamertag) or real name (if their privacy settings allow searching by real name).
You can also use alternative methods:
QR Code: If the player shares their profile QR code, tap Scan QR Code in the Friends section and scan it with your phone’s camera or the app to find their profile.
Players Near You: If location services are enabled and the player is nearby, go to Friends - Players Near You to find them (both players must have this feature enabled).
Recent Players: Go to Game Base - Recent Players to find people you’ve recently played with online.
Add a Friend:
Select the player’s profile from the search results or other methods.
Tap Add Friend or Send Friend Request. You can include a short message (optional) to introduce yourself.
Tap Send to submit the friend request. The player will receive a notification and can accept or decline it via their PS5, PS4, or PlayStation App.
