To switch to Desktop Mode on your Steam Deck, follow these steps:

1. Open the Steam Menu

Press the Steam button on your Steam Deck to open the main menu.
2. Navigate to Power Options

Scroll down the menu and select Power.
3. Switch to Desktop Mode

In the Power menu, choose the option labeled Switch to Desktop.
4. Wait for the Switch

The Steam Deck will then exit SteamOS’s gaming mode and switch to the KDE Plasma desktop environment, which is the desktop mode for SteamOS.
5. Navigating Desktop Mode

You can use the touch screen, thumbsticks, and buttons to navigate the desktop. If you have a keyboard and mouse, you can connect them via USB or Bluetooth for easier control.

6. Return to Gaming Mode
When you're ready to switch back to Gaming Mode, double-click the Return to Gaming Mode icon on the desktop or restart your Steam Deck.
