How to Transfer WhatsApp Messages & Chat from Android Phone to iPhone (Device Link)
3Steps to Transfer WhatsApp Chats
Back Up WhatsApp on Android (Optional but Recommended)
Open WhatsApp on your Android phone.
Go to Settings - Chats - Chat Backup.
Ensure your chats are backed up to Google Drive (tap Back Up if needed).
This step is a precaution in case the transfer fails.
Set Up Your iPhone
If your iPhone is new or factory reset, start the setup process until you reach the Apps & Data screen.
If already set up, you’ll need to factory reset the iPhone (go to Settings - General - Transfer or Reset iPhone - Erase All Content and Settings). Back up iPhone data first, as this will erase everything.
Download Move to iOS on Android
On your Android phone, download the Move to iOS app from the Google Play Store.
Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions.
Connect the Devices
On the iPhone, during setup, select Move Data from Android on the Apps & Data screen.
A 6-digit or 10-digit code will appear on the iPhone.
On the Android phone, open the Move to iOS app, tap Continue, and enter the code displayed on the iPhone.
The devices will establish a direct Wi-Fi connection (or use a USB-C to Lightning cable if prompted).
Select WhatsApp Data to Transfer
On the Android phone, in the Move to iOS app, select the data you want to transfer. Ensure WhatsApp is checked.
Tap Continue to start the transfer process.
The app will prepare and transfer WhatsApp chats, including messages, media, and group chats (call history and peer-to-peer payment messages are not transferred).
Complete Transfer on iPhone
Once the transfer begins, keep both devices connected and the iPhone unlocked.
On the iPhone, WhatsApp will automatically install (or prompt you to install it from the App Store) after the transfer.
Open WhatsApp on the iPhone and log in with the same phone number used on the Android phone.
When prompted, tap Restore to import the transferred chats.
Finalize Setup
Wait for the transfer to complete (time depends on data size, e.g., chats, photos, videos).
Once done, your WhatsApp chats, media, and settings will appear on the iPhone.
Complete the iPhone setup process if not already finished.
