How to Fix Your Games Not Starting on PS5 (100% Works!)
If your games are not starting on your PS5, try these steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
Restart the PS5:
Hold the power button on the PS5 for 3 seconds to put it in rest mode, then turn it off completely.
Unplug the console for 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and power on.
Try launching the game again.
Check for Game Updates:
Highlight the game on the home screen, press the Options button, and select Check for Update.
Install any available updates, as outdated game versions may fail to start.
Update PS5 System Software:
Go to Settings, System, System Software, System Software Update and Settings.
Select Update System Software to ensure your PS5 is running the latest firmware.
Restart the console after updating and try the game.
Check Disc or Digital Version:
For disc-based games:
Ensure the disc is clean, free of scratches, and inserted correctly.
Try another game disc to rule out a faulty disc drive.
For digital games:
Verify your internet connection, Settings, Network, Connection Status, Test Internet Connection.
Ensure you’re signed into the correct PSN account that owns the game.
Rebuild Database:
Turn off the PS5 completely.
Boot into Safe Mode by holding the power button until you hear a second beep, about 7 seconds.
Connect your controller via USB and select Rebuild Database, option 5.
This process may take a while but won’t delete your data. Try the game afterward.
Clear Cache:
Go to Settings, Storage, Saved Data.
Select the game causing issues and delete its saved data, back up to cloud/USB first if needed.
Alternatively, clear system cache by unplugging the PS5 for 5 minutes after shutting it down.
Reinstall the Game:
Go to Settings, Storage, Games and Apps.
Select the game, press Delete, then redownload it from your Library or insert the disc to reinstall.
For digital games, ensure you have enough storage space, Settings, Storage.
Check for Corrupted Data:
Go to Settings, Storage, Games and Apps, and look for any files marked as corrupted.
Delete corrupted files and reinstall the game.
Test with Another Game:
Launch a different game to determine if the issue is game-specific or system-wide.
If other games work, the problematic game may need a patch or reinstall.
Check Internet and PSN Status:
If the game requires an online connection, test your network, Settings, Network, Test Internet Connection.
Check PlayStation Network status on Sony’s official website or X for outages.
Restore Licenses (Digital Games):
Go to Settings, Users and Accounts, Other, Restore Licenses.
Select Restore and wait for the process to complete, then try launching the game.
