How to Move Photos & Videos from Samsung Android Phone using USB DRIVE (Best Method)
The most straightforward and highly recommended method for moving photos and videos from your Samsung phone directly to a USB drive is by using a USB On-The-Go (OTG) adapter and the Samsung My Files application.
This method is the best because it is fast, does not require a computer, and uses the reliable, built-in file manager on your Samsung phone.
The Best Method: Direct Transfer via USB OTG and My Files
What You Will Need
Item Description
Samsung Phone Your phone (most modern Samsung Galaxy models support OTG).
USB Flash Drive The drive you want to transfer to (ensure it has enough storage).
USB OTG Adapter A small adapter that plugs into your phone's charging port (usually USB-C) and has a standard USB-A port for your flash drive. (You can skip this if you have a dual USB-C/USB-A drive).

Step-by-Step Instructions
Connect the USB Drive to Your Phone:
Plug the USB flash drive into the USB OTG adapter (if required).
Plug the adapter/drive into your Samsung phone's charging port (USB-C).
You should see a notification on your phone indicating that the USB Storage is connected.
Open the My Files App:
Go to your Apps screen and open the Samsung folder.
Launch the My Files app (the default file manager).
Under the Storage section, the connected USB drive will be listed, often labeled as "USB Storage."
Locate Your Photos and Videos:
Tap on Internal Storage (or SD card, if your media is saved there).
Find the main folder containing your media. For camera photos and videos, this is almost always:
DCIM → Camera
Other media may be in folders like Pictures, Downloads, or app-specific folders (e.g., WhatsApp Images).
Select Files for Transfer:
Tap and hold on the first file (or the folder, like DCIM).
Once the selection mode is active, you can tap on individual files or folders to select them.
To select everything in a folder, look for the "All" or "Select all" option at the top of the screen.
Choose "Move" to Free Up Space:
After selecting your media, look at the options at the bottom of the screen.
Tap "Move". (Choose "Move" if you want to delete the photos/videos from your phone and only keep them on the USB drive, freeing up space).
(Alternatively, choose "Copy" if you want to keep the media on your phone as a backup).
Paste to the USB Drive:
Navigate back to the My Files home screen (using the back arrow).
Tap on "USB Storage."
(Optional but recommended: Tap the three dots/Menu → "Create folder" to organize your backup).
Tap "Move here" (or "Copy here") at the bottom of the screen to start the transfer.
