How to Change Phone Number on iPad
Changing your phone number on an iPad is a straightforward process, though it's important to clarify what exactly you want to change—whether it's your device’s phone number for cellular data, the number linked to your Apple ID, or simply updating contact info within an app. This guide walks you through each scenario, and while the video demonstration is on an iPhone, the steps are nearly identical on an iPad.
If your iPad supports cellular data and you’re changing the SIM card or mobile number, go to Settings, tap Cellular, then choose Add eSIM or Remove SIM. This is where you manage your device's mobile plan. You can also view or edit the number by going to the Phone section in the Settings app (if available), and selecting My Number to manually update it.
If you want to change the phone number linked to your Apple ID, go to Settings, tap your Apple ID profile at the top, then select Sign-In & Security. Tap Add Email or Phone Number, then choose Add a Phone Number. Enter your new number and follow the steps to verify it with a code sent via SMS or call. Once verified, you can return to the same section and remove the old number if needed.
This trusted number is used for two-factor authentication and recovery, so keeping it updated ensures your account stays secure.
These steps can be applied to both iPads and iPhones running current versions of iOS or iPadOS.
