How to Update Controller & Reset on Xbox One (Easy Method)
Updating the Controller:
Connect the Controller: Ensure that the Xbox One controller is connected to your Xbox One console via a USB cable or wirelessly synced to the console.
Turn on the Console: Make sure your Xbox One console is powered on and connected to the internet.
Access the Settings Menu:
Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the Guide.
Navigate to the "System" tab, which looks like a gear-shaped icon.
Select "Settings."
Select Devices & Connections:
In the "Settings" menu, select "Devices & connections."
Choose Accessories:
Under "Devices & connections," select "Accessories."
Select the Controller to Update:
In the "Accessories" menu, you should see your connected controller listed. Select it.
Check for Updates:
In the controller's menu, you will see an option that says "Device info." Select it.
If there is a firmware update available for your controller, you will see an option to update it. Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the update.
Wait for the Update to Complete:
The update process may take a few minutes. Make sure not to disconnect the controller during the update.
Restart the Controller: After the update is complete, restart the controller. You can do this by pressing and holding the Xbox button on the controller for a few seconds, then select "Restart controller" from the menu that appears.
Resetting the Controller:
If you need to reset your Xbox One controller for any reason (e.g., to resolve a connection issue or to clear paired devices), you can do so by following these steps:
Press the Bind and Eject Buttons:
On the top edge of the controller, you'll find a small circular button near the USB port (Bind button).
There's also a small rectangular button on the front of the controller, just below the Xbox button (Eject button).
Simultaneously press and hold the Bind button and the Eject button on your controller.
Keep Holding the Buttons: Continue holding both buttons for about 10-15 seconds. The Xbox button on the controller will flash rapidly.
Release the Buttons: After the Xbox button stops flashing and returns to its normal state, release the Bind and Eject buttons.
Restart the Controller: Press the Xbox button to turn the controller back on. It should now be reset.
Reconnect the Controller (if necessary):
If you were experiencing issues with the controller's connection to the Xbox console, re-sync it by pressing and holding the sync button on both the controller and the console until they pair.
