Overall, this is really is the in-depth guide on how to add Optifine to Forge, so without anymore delay, here is how to get Forge and Optifine in 1.17.1!
The first step of getting Optifine with Forge actually starts with Optifine. Begin by clicking the Optifine download link in the description above. This will actually take you to our website. Once you are on our website, scroll down and click the green download Optifine button. That will take you to the official Optifine download page. On this page, you want to click ‘preview versions’ at the time this video comes out. This may change in the future though.
In preview versions, you will see Optifine. You will then see a version of Forge listed. Take note of this version. It will come back later. Next, click the ‘mirror’ download button. Then, click the Download Optifine 1.17.1 link on the next page. Optifine will then download. You will need to keep or save the file depending on your browser.
Now, we can move on to downloading Forge. You can find the Forge download link also in the description above. When you click that, it will take to our in-depth Forge tutorial. This can be followed for using Forge with Optifine. Just make sure you are downloading the correct version of Forge. Once you are here though, click the green ‘Download Forge’ button to go to the Forge download page. Select 1.17.1 on the right-hand sidebar. Then, click ‘Show all Versions’. Find the version number of Forge that was listed on the Optifine website. Then, click the installer button next to this version. Click the ‘Skip’ button on the page you are taken to. Finally, save or keep the Forge file that downloads depending on your browser.
You can now install Forge as normal. We have a complete tutorial on how to install Forge linked in the description above. It even goes over some of the issues you may have when installing Forge for Optifine. The most important part is that you are installing the version of Forge listed on the Optifine website. If you aren’t, this tutorial will not work!
After you have Forge, we can show you to install Optifine with Forge in Minecraft 1.17.1. To do this, open up the start menu and search for the ‘Run’ application. Open this app and type %appdata% in the text box. Hit enter and your roaming folder will open. Open the .minecraft folder. You should then have a mods folder. If you don’t have a mods folder, create one! After you are in your mods folder, just drag-and-drop the Optifine file you downloaded into this mods folder. It’s that easy to install Optifine with Forge.
You aren’t completely finished however. You still need to open up the Minecraft launcher and select the Forge profile. Then, click Play. When you do, Minecraft 1.17.1 will open up with Forge and Optifine installed. You can add other 1.17.1 mods to the mods folder to use them with Optifine!
