About this video: In this video, we show you how to download and install the new Minecraft Launcher using the Microsoft Store. This may also be referred to as the Gamepass Launcher as it was the Minecraft Launcher that was launched with Minecraft being added to Xbox Gamepass. With this launcher, you can play Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Windows/Bedrock Edition all from the same launcher. So, without anymore delay, here is how to get the new Minecraft Launcher from the Microsoft Store!
First things first, you will need to either have Xbox Gamepass or own a copy of Minecraft. Once you have either of those, we can move on to install the Minecraft Launcher. To do this, open up the Microsoft store. Every Windows PC should have the Microsoft Store on it. Once you are in the Microsoft Store, click the search box in the top right. Then, search for ‘Minecraft Launcher’. Keep in mind that there are a bunch of different versions of Minecraft. You want the one simply called ‘Minecraft Launcher’.
After you have clicked on the Minecraft Launcher, you should have an ‘Install’ button in the top right of the page. Click this button, and the Minecraft Launcher will begin installing. How long the Minecraft launcher takes to download will depend on your internet speed. Once it is finished though, you will have an ‘open’ button. Click this, and the Minecraft Launcher will open right up!
Before you an actually play Minecraft though, you will need to sign in to either your Microsoft or Mojang account. For most people, this will be their Microsoft account. However, for some players, you may still be on a legacy Mojang account. After you have logged in though, you can see both Minecraft Windows Edition and Minecraft Java Edition on the right-hand side. Click Minecraft Java addition and click the green Play button to start play Minecraft.
If you do want to play Minecraft Bedrock Edition on Windows, click the Minecraft Windows Edition and click the green play button there. With this, you can easily switch between the different versions of Minecraft doing this making it super easy to play with your friends on other platforms.
