Ok - hear me out on this. We all know that Nintendo's next console will almost certainly be just an iteration on the Switch. The Switch is just too popular for them to throw out the idea and go with something completely new. But Nintendo is gonna Nintendo. They always have a new gimmick with every console they release. And I have a crazy idea that, if I’m being honest, probably has a less than 1% chance of happening. But just in case it does happen, I want to be able to say that I predicted it. So, I’m throwing caution to the wind and calling my shot here in this video. Get ready, because Switch 2 will have full-on VR support as a main feature. And I’m not talking about a little cardboard thing like they did with Labo. No, alongside the release of the console, Nintendo will introduce a proper headset with STRAPS and camera tracking. Besides the new, better resolution screen and more powerful internals, the Switch 2 itself will look relatively unchanged. The form factor will stay the same, and it’ll still be the handheld/home-console hybrid you know and love - with all the same functionality of the original Switch. But now there will be a new mode to “switch” to. Dock the screen into the headset and use the detachable joy con in each hand as controllers, and you’ve got a wireless VR headset. And although it may not be as capable as the dedicated VR headsets on the market, it will still be able to compete by providing more value and utility to gamers who don’t want to go whole-hog on a more traditional VR setup.
