Is This NEW VR Racing Game TOO EARLY ACCESS? // Assetto Corsa Evo VR Impressions
577Assetto Corsa Evo is out NOW in early access complete with VR support, but is it a little TOO early access with only 5 tracks, 20 cars, no multiplayer and a small selection of content including modes locked behind online functionality? Assetto Corsa Evo is the latest instalment in the hugely popular VR racing sim franchise Assetto Corsa, but this time around the developers have opted for a slow roll out and an early access release, which means the product on Steam right now is only a small slice of the finished product. In VR the cars feel great, handling is solid and the iconic tracks like Brands Hatch are faithfully recreated but visual issues, performance inconsistencies and a general lack of any meaningful content to play takes the wind out of this new VR racing games sails. Assetto Corsa Evo VR feels like a good groundwork for a solid VR racing sim but it's hard to recommend in early access when so much of the game is yet to materialise, if you're looking for a top quality VR racing game it might be better to grab one of the older Assetto Corsa titles for now whilst Evo continues to cook. Right now there are better VR racing sims available for PCVR users but given time Assetto Corsa Evo could grow into a real contender.
