Jonathan Woodgate was WRONG to leave Newcastle United
Jonathan Woodgate was one of the best young defenders that England had to offer in the early 2000s. He was part of the burgeoning young Leeds team in the early 2000s that battled the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal for league titles and reached the semi-final of the Champions League. Woodgate left the sinking ship that was Leeds United, and to Newcastle United where he spent a year before making the leap to Real Madrid. Woodgate played 14 times in two seasons before returning to England and to Middlesbrough.
