I remember going to the video store back in 1996 to rent a movie and seeing the SNES game rentals and seeing that there was 2 Jurassic Park games available to rent and having just watched and become OBSESSED with the movie, I ended up renting this game immediately. I do remember being confused at which game was which, but it didn't matter since I had to play this game! Well after plugging it in and playing for 5 or 10 mins, I was struck by a few things: this game looks really cool, I love blasting dinosaurs and holy shit are the raptors ever fast and this game is bloody hard! Having said that though I loved the fact that there multiple levels to pick from whenever I got tired of dying over and over on some other level. And attempting battle the T.Rex was both equally awesome and downright terrifying to a 5 yr old. Needless to say I didn't manage to get anywhere in this game for probably close to 10 years. When I did end up owning this game quite few years down the road I started to love it even more...especially when I got a small breakthrough in beating a couple of the levels (The Gallimimus level and the Underground Raptor Nest level). I kept at it over the next few years and eventually when I was 16 or 17 yrs old I finally finished while a thunder and lightning storm raged outside my window with blue flashes of lightning illuminating the room along the flashes of explosions from the game. A very cool and vivid memory to say the least. As for the game itself since there was no sequel to the movie yet I see the game as a neat little "what-if" scenario and spiritual successor to the first movie/game in a way. Except this time it owes far more to the run n' gun style of Contra then the top-down open world gamplay of the first game (except for the Doom-esque indoor sections) which seemed to owe more to Zelda then anything. With a very cool animated intro, excellent music, great play control, plenty of weapons and the ability to have a 2 player co-op this made the game a particular favorite for me and my friends growing up. Except that the game is very hard and unforgiving and requires near-perfect reflexes for some parts. The last couple Emergency Missions were pure hell trying to memorize...especially the wounded scout level in the mountains. And only being able to access the final 2 levels on Hard Mode, hence get the real ending, made the game a real grind especially when your continues/lives are reduced from 6 down to 3 really made this one a tough nut to crack. While the game is an unforgiving bastard at points it still stands (along with the first game) as among my top SNES games of all time and is easily in my top 10 games on the SNES. Its well worth your time and certainly worth picking up if you can find a copy (its much more uncommon than the first game). Just be prepared to practice lots! This was done on my actual cartridge.

Hope You Enjoy!
