When I first got a competently working NES way back when the very first games that I bought for it that afternoon (that wasn't Mario/Duck Hunt) was Batman and this wonderful game Terminator 2. If memory serves T2 was the first R-rated movie that I watched at the age of 8 (was either T2 or Predator 2 since I saw them about the same time-frame) and I remember being wowed by just like most other people. Saw the game and was thinking hmm that looks cool, love the movie, its $10...why not? Well I can certainly say that I honestly spent far more time playing Batman than this game....it frustrated me to no end and the difficulty curve of the motorbike stage (why is EVERY driving level in a Terminator game pure hell...) stopped me dead in my tracks for a long while. After a few years and quite a few more tries I did eventually get past the dreaded stage and more or less got to the end of the game...didn't beat it but came close. As I kept picking away at this game in an effort to finally beat it I started to grow strange fondness for it and found myself actually enjoying most levels. The control is certainly alright, I really like the music for the most part and after understanding how to play and to competently finish each level I found that the difficulty drops rather significantly. The only major complaints I would have still are of course the driving stage and some of the platforming in the final Steel Plant level...its really hard to figure out what you can jump on and some of the timing has to be mathematically pixel perfect for the jump to successfully register..hence the deaths in the playthrough. Otherwise, I would go out on a limb and say that this is the best Terminator 2 game for me honestly. Its not as stupidly cheap as the T2 Arcade Game and its not as mechanically broken and unforgiving as the Terminator 2 games on SNES/Sega Genesis since they were just major letdowns on almost all aspects. Plus this game is miles ahead of the Terminator game based on the first movie on NES as well. If you run across this one cheap I would recommend picking it up and giving it a try. Hope you enjoy!
