Killing Time: Resurrected - Chasing Safe Space(s)
This is me, on the hunt for the goal. Obscure FPS games (and games themself like point and click) seem to be coming back to life thanks to the efforts of Nightdive Studios, Its shown me a world of games that I likely would've have know about if it hadn't been for the remasters. This game here, is a Horror FPS game that was originally a Panasonic 3DO exclusive developed by the 3DO Company, it got a 1996 Windows release, a 2015 Zoom port and this remaster by Nightdive on October 17th 2024.
Killing Time takes place in 1932, A College student who has studied egyptology has come to a Plantation island in Maine named Matinicus Island, There was talk of a great egyptian artifact, the Water Clock was owned by a Hier to an estate on this island, but there's something far more sinister at play: This heir and many of the guests of a party vanished.. And the true horror await us.
We start with a revolver, this can be changed to dual revolvers and we'll also get a shotgun, tommy gun and other weapons across this island, Our enemies? A mix of Gangsters with their tommy guns, shotgun guys, zombified gardeners and poodles and other terrors. A unique thing of Killing Time is real time cutscenes portrating by actual people for the story's plotlines, which I wil say, for a 1995 FPS is very creative.
Yes, I've played FPS games that are cryptic but it feels that Killing Time goes out of its way to complicate even the most ordain of tasks in order of balance: Getting inside the Manor requires a RSVP invite which, will lead to a lot of looking around as these maps are a lot larger vs the original game: Nightdive removed all loading screens making it seem as large as the PowerSlave exhumed port. Keys? tiring to find, its got issues, but I think its a decent shooter.
