Developed and released StellarVR, Korix brings real-time strategy and tower defense to Virtual Reality. The main goal is take out the enemy bases. First you create workers to harvest energy that's used to buy units. Then you can build walls to keep out any illegals and place turrets on top to shoot them down. Structures can be placed a limited distance away, so you'll want to expand your infrastructure all the way to the enemy bases. Now all you gotta do is build some lasers a target the red dome. The bases have to be targeted in a certain order, and it's not clear which one you have to destroy first until you try it. Can someone explain this? There's two buttons that bring up control panels, one for structures the other for units, and you can point and choose which block you want to build on. Units are automatically dispatched from the base, but I rarely built any tanks or airplanes during the campaign, which has only 8 levels. Korix can be played with the Duelshock, but you won't be able to the tilt too much in any direction, which makes placing units annoying. You'll need to rotate the playfield with the trigger for maximum efficiency. The move controller makes things easier, but it's not a gamechanger, and they could have implemented a head rotation onto the Duelshock's thumbstick. Korix prides itself in running at 120 fps, and there IS something soothing to the whole experience, but don't discount the music. There's 8 additional levels if you count multiplayer, but they can't be played solo for some reason. There could have been more modes or modifier or something. There's just a handful of towers and units, and I was able to beat the campaign on normal with only lasers and artillery. Multiplayer is fun, you can play co-op or competitively against enemy waves if you can find somebody. Overall, Korix proves that Real Time Strategy games work well in VR, but doesn't capitalize on the full potential. I'm really hoping the devs push out some free levels in their next update, and maybe another difficulty level or mode, because there's definitely some balancing issues in the meta. If the word meta bothers you start a dialogue in the comment section and share this video with your enemies.
