Designed by George Gomez and released in 1998 by Williams, Monster Bash presents monsters from different series like Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Mummy. The main goal of the table is to find the 6 monsters and collect their instruments so they can perform monster rock. If you activate all of the monsters but fail to collect all of the instruments you you can still activate Monster Bash by entering the concert hall scoop. Some of their modes can be activated at the same time, so progression is fairly quick. Monster Bash features two flippers, two ramps, and toy models of most of the characters. Hit the blue spot targets 7 times to light phantom flip in either of the inlanes. When the ball rolls through, your flipper will automatically take a shot if you don't press anything. It's pretty interesting, but I haven't had much success using it. There's also a feature called Lyman Lament, where the lead programmer start talking. It can be activated by making the scoop 44 times in a single ball or entering a code at the start of the game. Monster bash has a lot of nice character models scattered throughout the table, and the sound design is pretty good. Some of the cutscenes take you out of the action a little too long, so press both flippers to skip. And the humor sidesteps between campy and corny. Multiballs are common and the table isn't that difficult so anyone who dedicates themselves for a little bit should get to see all the main features. Overall, Monster Bash is a Supergroup of all the big names getting together to produce average hits. Which Monster do you identify with the most?
