Late-Game Minecraft 261 :: Beacon at Bedrock Level
After lighting up the caves beneath our base, we continue digging downwards until we hit bedrock! Then, we hollow out a small room in order to place down our beacon. We activate the Haste II buff and fly back out to start chipping away at the layers of grass, dirt and stone!
We mine some copper before continuing to add torches to the cave system that we are in! Hearing an Enderman somewhere, we explore the caves cautiously. We see a skeleton and a creeper by a lava stream and draw our bow!
After we have lit up all the caves, we look out of the hole we dug for our beacon and see that it is night! We place down our bed to sleep before mining some copper. We sprint through the caves again to add more torches, and we find a branch that we had missed!
Near the lava fall, there are also unexplored caves leading upwards from the ceiling! We build some stone staircases to access them and light them up. At a dead end, we hear zombies so we mine forward and discover a small cave section that leads to an underground lake!
We look around for more unlit caves at another dead end, but we do not find anything! It is not all that unexpected, since we no longer hear any hostile mobs around us. The area should be safe now so we head back to the hole that we were digging! We continue digging downwards until we see bedrock.
Just above the first level where bedrock spawns, we hollow out a large room so we can place down our beacon! The sky is turning dark so we sleep in our bed before proceeding to place down the iron blocks required to activate the beacon.
The ceiling of the room is a little low so we spend some time to mine out one more layer of stone! The ambient sound of a dark cave makes us pause for a while, and we wonder if there are still undiscovered caves in the region!
After setting up the beacon, we place an iron ingot in it and activate the Haste II effect! We return to the surface and set up a crafting table and a double chest beside the site of the mob farm. We store away our items and empty the contents of our Shulker boxes into the chest!
Back at the deepslate base, we pick up our Fortune III pickaxe and mine some coal ore! We had used up a lot of coal and torches while exploring the unlit caves. When we are done with resupplying, we return to the beacon square and start removing the vegetation on the surface!
Following which, we bring out our shovel and dig away the grass and dirt, exposing the grey stone underneath! Grass and dirt are very useful for terraforming, so we make sure we pick up every single block of it, including some that have fallen into the hole of the beacon beam!
Using our pickaxe to mine away the stone, we quickly clear a large amount of it thanks to the buff from the beacon! With Haste II and the Efficiency V enchantment, we can mine up stone blocks in an instant. The dig site looks a little messy because of all the caves in the area!
After mining for a bit longer, we create a relatively flat ground where we can easily remove the further layers of stone! We walk around to pick up all the blocks and fly up to take a look. Then, we end the episode, standing on a ledge overlooking the square pit!
