Late-Game Minecraft 384 :: Running Low on Food
0Underground, we explore the caves at deepslate level! We find two amethyst geodes and mine more iron. A thunderstorm begins and we hear the loud growls of thunder from the caves! Eventually, we find our way out through a small aquifer! We need to find more food, because we are down to our last piece of pork chop!
Mining away the stone around a deepslate block, we look for more blocks of deepslate! It seems that there is only one. We head back towards where we had came from and mine some coal! Then, we explore the other tunnels in the area.
We do not find any rare ores, but we gather some deepslate, iron, and coal! Near a copper ore vein, we thought that we had heard some mob sounds, so we stop to listen carefully. It must have been a figment of our imagination!
Heading to a deep ravine, we decide to get down with the help of a waterfall! A skeleton starts shooting at us and we raise our shield. After slaying it, we see a geode in the distance! We place a few torches down, but we are afraid of monsters dropping down from above!
Luckily for us, mobs seem to be rare in the area! Going up a different waterfall, we find a steep cave that goes upwards with a low ceiling. Another skeleton finds us and starts shooting arrows from above! We quickly retreat into a nearby cave.
We go down a different tunnel where we find some iron ore veins! We mine away the stone on the floor as the ceiling is very low. The cave leads to a dead end! We take the opportunity to craft a new stone pickaxe and some torches.
Hearing a skeleton, we mine towards the sounds! We mine some iron ore before investigating further. We find a different cave and slay the skeleton! There is a large cavern under us, and we place down our bucket of water to get down safely!
We find another amethyst geode in the cavern! Hearing some bats, we light up the area with our torches. Suddenly, we find that we are surrounded by three creepers! Our shield comes in handy as it allows us to defend against their explosions.
Swimming up a stream of water, we look for the source! We light up as many caves as we can without putting ourselves in danger. A skeleton attacks us from behind, and we are so startled that we toss our sword to the ground! Oops!
After slaying the skeleton, we swim up another water stream and find a zombie at the top! We find another large cavern. The sounds of thunder echoes through the cave! It seems that a thunderstorm has begun. We explore the caves further and find a large empty space!
We hear the sounds of a baby zombie nearby! We decide to head back to the chamber with the amethyst geode where we slay an adult zombie. Seeing a cave that leads upwards, we climb up to explore it! An Enderman follows us and we make a small tunnel to slay it.
The Enderman does not attack us, but it leads us to a dead end! We make another tunnel and find a flooded cave just behind the wall! Refilling our water bucket, we swim into the water to check it out. Then, we slay the Enderman and collect our first Ender pearl!
We realise that we are actually in the cave where we had initially entered the cave system, as we recognise the water source that we had placed down above the geode! We mine some iron ore before deciding to break into the geode.
After collecting some amethyst crystals, we realise that our inventory is full! It is probably a good time to head back to the surface. On our map, we see that we are close to the ocean, so we head to the flooded cave hoping to find an exit!
Unfortunately, we start drowning in the aquifer! We try to make air holes in the ceiling, but we underestimate the amount of time that it takes to create these holes. We consume almost all of our pork chops to refill our hunger and our hearts!
We surface at the bottom of a narrow ravine, and see sunlight streaming in from above! We are very glad to see grass again. We emerge from the caves just north of the border plains village! Crossing the plains, we return to the savannah hill where we had set up our campsite.
In total, we have collected close to a stack of raw iron! Nice. We place down our furnace to begin smelting all of the iron! At the bottom of the hill, we collect some wheat from the small farm! We also chop down some acacia trees.
Afterwards, we breed our cows with some wheat! We clear away the acacia leaves for some sticks and saplings. While waiting for the leaves to decay, we head into the nearby caves! We see a glow squid in the depths, but it is probably too dangerous to go down there with our limited food supply.
Sleeping for the night, we head outside again and collect the items from the acacia leaves! We replant the saplings before going up the hill. We craft a new double chest and collect our iron ingots before ending the episode!
