PREVIOUSLY:
After his defeat, Xain uses the last bit of his strength to completely freeze the molten lava along with the whole underground area. Though this does not cause any immediate effect, Gala senses something troubling with the Seru monster's doing.

The heroes return to the settlement, where they are lauded by the city mayor. He thanks them for their heroic deeds, and asks for a favor of collecting some Spring Salts from Vidna. They accept his offer and take a trip to Vidna.

Upon arriving, the trio notice that the windmills have stopped working, resulting in the Mist entering the city. Gala speculates that this might have been caused by the freezing of the magma, and they search town for survivors. During their search, not only were they able to find the townspeople safe in an underground shelter built by Danpas, they also manage to retrieve some Spring Salts, which they gave to the mayor of Octam.

After learning Vidna's situation, the mayor felt guilty, as he thinks that saving them resulted in Vidna's current state. He tells them that there resides a Genesis Tree in Mt. Letona, a mountain beside the town of Ratayu. The heroes exit Octam, and travels northwest to the City of Checkpoints.
