Legend of the Mystical Ninja Perfect Runs - Mystical Zone 3: Amusement Park
For those who saw my outtakes for Revenge of Meta Knight Chapter 7--yes, the very level that includes the Meta Knight fight for Kirby Super Star--you might have noticed that after using the Bomb ability to take revenge on both Meta Knight and his beyond aggravating mooks, I vented on a stage in a different game that has nothing to do with Kirby.
The game is in fact Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyuushutsu Emaki (babelfish this to Good Luck Goemon: Princess Yuki Resuke Picture Scroll), better known to Americans as Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the SNES. This is actually part of the rather obscure Goemon series, obscure because only a few of the games even made it stateside.
I decided to give Perfect Running at least a few games in the Goemon series a go. Give credit to undercoverfilmer00v for the idea. I got my inspiration from his run of the final level, which is shown here (SPOILER WARNING):

It's really more of a walkthrough of the level in comparison to what I do, but as he humiliates the final boss, I'll gladly recommend the video for a watch. Me, I'm doing Perfect Runs, which have the following conditions:
*No Damage
*No weapon upgrades
*No unnecessary Ryo Shots or Judo Skills (the former is actually necessary in two instances to avoid taking counterdamage)
*No unnecessary store purchases (although aside from a couple of necessary items, only the Sandals, Bombs, and Clock items aren't rendered moot by No Damage)
Yeah, the game expects you to take hits, since the onscreen equipment slots are generally for stuff that don't get used otherwise. Perfect Running shows that it's actually possible to clear the game without getting hit. :P
Oh yeah, feel free to provide any references to Japanese culture and whatnot in the comments. While I can be sure my sense of culture is still better than both the typical LPer, as well as the cases of Teens Are Monsters that I rant about in this video, it's still nothing home to write about. Simply, I give courtesy toward people like the history teacher I talk about as the target of the bad teens I rant about. Anyway, just prove you're better than the freakjobs that are the Fire Emblem failbase or the abrasive darwinists that make up the Kid Icarus Uprising board on GameFAQs. I already have Hard Annotator getting on my case and he even stupidly exaggerates one of my rants, totally not familiar behavior. *coughkidicarusuprisingboardusershack*
*Mystical Zone 3: Amusement Park
Ironic how this whole stage is a town segment, because it's so easy. The card throwers at the end of the bridge don't even try to hit Goemon, among the few mook types in this game capable of surviving a hit proves why superarmor is so important for durable people, the water barrel carriers have weird hit detection that ultimately works against them, and the boss has THREE ways to humiliate him.
But this is an amusement park the stage takes place in, so I do recommend having fun with exploration if you're playing normally. Just make sure it's not fun at others' expense.
