Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.

In this episode we finally wrap up the majority of the work for the messages on the backend. We start out setting up a couple of comparators to help us order messages and conversations. Then we update the ConversationService to actually use the comparators to sort the conversations and messages when the users loads into the application. After this we head back to the frontend to consume the messages after they are sent over the websocket. We setup a new reducer in the message slice to handle the new messages coming in, as well as a new reducer in the notification slice to reroute notifications to the unreadMessages state of the message slice. Finally we make use of this new logic to display the messages in plan text to wrap up the episode.
