Lets Build Twitter From the Ground Up: Episode 205 || Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and React
Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.
In this episode I wanted to get reacting to messages working on the frontend, however as I was preparing the project for this episode I quickly found out we had some major problems with the logic for reacting to messages on the backend. So to start out we go back to the backend and refactor the logic for reacting to messages that way we can actually return back the entire list of message reactions with the message. After we get this issue fixed we come back to the frontend and set up a new async thunk inside of the MessageSlice to be able to send message reactions to the backend. Once the thunk is completed we simply add the logic to be able to send these reactions to the Message container as well as the MessageReactionModal, and test to make sure we are successfully sending and getting back the information expected when reacting to messages.
