183While Athkatla has a lot things that we could get up to - even more then there was to do in Baldur's Gate - there's only one thing that we need to do right now: find Imoen and by extension, Irenicus. Both have been taken away by the Cowled Wizardds but we've no idea where, though it's likely to be a very secure place indeed if it can hold a wizard as powerful was Irenicus. Granted, we could just return to Baldur's Gate and leave Imoen to her fate but she's a childhood friend of ours who doesn't deserve to be incarcerated due to not knowing the draconian rules for spellcasting that have are in place within this city. We'll also get a chance to question Irenicus on why he was doing what he was and what this 'potential' is that he sees in us, though that'll likely end in a fight we currently wouldn't win.
Whether you feel inclined to rescue Imoen or not doesn't matter in the end, as we're going to be railroaded into finding out where she's been taken and staging a rescue. Unfortunately for us, we're going to need to pay for the information we need to do that and the price is exceptionally steep. Raising the money needed is the objective of the second chapter of the game, though how we choose to go about it is up to us. There are a myriad of quests we can get within the city alone, not to mention the places beyond its walls that have quests all their own. Whatever we decide to do, know that we'll be in chapter two for quite a while.
First things first however, we need to start assembling the party we'll be travelling with for the rest of the game and luckily for us, the first person we'll be recruiting is very easy to find. Having never really used this companion before - or an evil party in general - this is going to be one of many new experience that I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
