Let’s Play BG2 EE #13: Time to Stop Clowning Around

Now that Dorn has decided to travel with us for the long term, we can start focusing on the minor issue of not having 20,000 gold pieces to pay for assistance in rescuing Imoen. The best way to earn such coin is to do quests and there are many of them scattered about in the city and yet more in the rest of Amn. Already the list of them that we’ve agreed to do is getting quite long, including assisting Korgan with his own personal quest. His has a time limit of sorts on it, as if we don’t get on with it after so long, he’ll hint that he’ll leave the party and go do his quest alone. We don’t want that to happen as he’s one of the few evil party members we can get, so we’ll need to get on with his quest in due time.
That said, the amount of leeway we get from Korgan is generous enough that we can still do some other things before tending to his own, so let’s start with a quest we walked right by upon our arrival in the promenade. It’s a quest that’s possible as soon as you arrive and with nearly any kind of party and the rewards are pretty good, enough to get us started on the long road to riches. Remember that while we’re collecting gold to pay for the information, we also need to use gold to get better equipment and spells else we won’t survive the rescue attempt, a balancing act I’ll surely fail at maintaining. There’s more then enough gold to earn from quests however so we shouldn’t have any serious issues unless we squander it all in some silly manner. I make no promises that I won’t, but I’ll try not to.
