Let’s Replay Doom II #01: Time to Settle Some Scores
It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? The Doom series is one of my favourites and after replaying the first, I knew that eventually my thoughts would drift to the second, to my favourite of them all. Doom II was the first game in the series I ever played after all and the first FPS that I truly sunk my teeth into. It’s a game that I can load up any time and have fun with and so, here we are.
I’m not sure what else needs to be said really, save that Earth is under attack from the very demons that Doomguy beat the snot out of last time and only he can save the world from them. You’d think they’d of learned to leave well enough alone but this time they’ve brought new friends with them to try and even out the odds. It’s a shame that that’s not going to make any difference in the end, for what can possible stand up to Doomguy and survive?
The answer is nothing, especially when a chaingun is in hand. Compared to the first game, Doom II is everything that was but more-so and better. Thanks to advancements in computer hardware, the levels are bigger and more intricate. The game is no longer split into episodes, meaning you won’t lose your weapons partway through the game and in general, it’s just everything Doom was but… better. I can’t describe it better then that and once you see it in action, you’ll understand what I mean.
Altogether now, folks… CHAAAINGUN!
