Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 3 GBA - Part 18: World of the Lost World
Hey, episode 18 on the 18th...what do you know. (Okay, I probably could have gotten it up last night if I'd really hustled...) Also, this video ended up being the one to push the first episode of this LP off the bottom of the list.
Having defeated K. Rool, we move on to the bonus and post-game content, starting with this game's Lost World, which actually has a name this time: Krematoa. It's a volcanic island in the area where Cotton-Top Cove and Mekanos are, so you can actually access it right after beating Kremwood Forest if you so desire (though I wouldn't recommend it; the levels in here are pretty challenging, and you need to have collected a lot of bonus coins to play many of them anyway). This world's Bear Brother, Boomer, accepts the bonus coins as payment for use of his explosives, which clear the path to the levels. We start off with Stampede Sprint, or 9-1, which is pretty easy to beat but very annoying to complete. It's a level in the jungle with the gimmick of turning into Ellie and having her constantly running in panic. 9-2, Criss Kross Cliffs, is a bit more orthodox, being a vertically-oriented mountain level with barrels constantly being blasted up the middle that you need to use to ascend the level. Then there is 9-3, Tyrant Twin Tussle, centered around Kuff and Klout, a pair of big, buff Kremling twins that only appear in the Lost World. (The first three levels of the Lost World, actually...is it ironic that the level that features them as the centerpoint is actually the last place they appear? Also, is it just me, or do the cave levels in this game not actually do much with their theme? I mean, most of the other level themes have design elements related to the theme, where all the cave levels in the game seem like they could just as easily be set in another environment.)
In any case, that's the first half of the Lost World done (finally...took me a while to actually get this one recorded).
