Let's Play Legend of Grimrock 2 #06: Positioning is Everything
221As the party travels deeper into the island, the dangers are only going to grow more prevalent and intense. With that in mind, I quickly need to get back into the mindset of a dungeon crawler and the grid-based movement that comes with the genre. Its limitations narrows what's possible when facing opponents but that doesn't mean you should just stand there and slug it out with an opponent.
Combat in Grimrock 2 is quite fast paced and you're encouraged to use the map to your advantage to dodge enemy attacks. Whether it's sidestepping a ranged weapon or a melee swipe, you'll save a lot of resources if you minimise the chances your enemies have to attack back.
The most important thing you must always do, however, is make sure you don't back yourself into a dead end by your enemy. Getting trapped means you fight on their terms and they're never, ever favourable to you.
