Let's Play Silent Bomber Part 3 - Raiding the Dreadnought, Mechs Hacked and Slashed!
Hello there, ladies and gentlemen, welcoming one and all to my latest Let's Play here that is indeed, Silent Bomber, a 'hidden gem' of sorts, as we go blasting our way through the spaceship Dante in a blaze of glory via hi-tech sci-fi demolition and all the adrenaline that comes with it!
So, having gotten the general basics out of the way, we face our first of many bosses in the gigantic labyrinth that is Dante! Indeed, this space walker hybrid robot of sorts, a 'Fire Ox' the game calls it, is certainly far from being a simple meat tank like the last 'boss' was, since it has it's own shield to protect itself from you targeting and bombing it's weak points (the legs) mindlessly as well as shooting rather accurately at you with it's dual lasers, hence running and jumping around a lot throughout this fight.
Of course, this is again the first proper boss, so it's probably toned down in terms of damage and all, so it's defeated without too much a fuss. But hey, right off we go into the second level and, although it appears to be more of the same, Jutah is then faced off against what I can describe as being a teaser of one of this game's mid-tier foes alongside a cocky boss who'll make his debut more than once!
Indeed, not even being the actual boss of the second level, Mercury is quite the clumsy foe inside an augmented mech suit, but his laser is VERY strong if you let yourself get hit by it! So, easy enough right? That's why his two bodyguards in the form of samurai mechs keep you distracted, be as it may they're not too tough as a whole but this early on they can be difficult to take out in one fell swoop!
Just as the fool was dealt with, having had his arm blown off from all that intense combat, we then get right into the proper action that is dealing with one of Dante's much larger Anti-Air Cannons in the form of a huge laser death machine, very much an interesting choice for a boss at that, being stationary and all, however much like with the demi-boss fight before, it's a matter of keeping yourself on the move and not letting yourself get distracted by those weak robotic minions as you whittle away at it's big health until it's down for the count, blast destruction commenced!
But yes, what of that story anyhow, seeing as the overall mission is to indeed invade Dante and either take it over or destroy it from within? Seeing as the raid went to hell at the very beginning of the game and all, seemingly looking like a disaster right from the get go, Jutah does receive a mysterious and rather ominous 'phone' (radio might be more accurate here, ala Metal Gear's own Codec) call from Benoit, one of Jutah's teammates here whom my cousin was both amused at his French name and disturbed by that unusual choice of words in his alluding message indeed!
Anyhow we jump right into the third level here, which is essentially tasking us with destroying the energy condensers that keep the security system of Dante up and running, which is not so bad until you consider that this level ditches the petty petite robots in favor of more larger and imposing mechanical beasts, which we see right at the start with that flying ship getting in the way with it's use of shields too alongside other such new foes such as a weaker variant that comes forward in groups and even the human grunts of Dante itself that come charging at us, weak they certainly are (a single bomb will obliterate all kinds of them!) but their damage output can vary with their weapons depending on which colour/tier they rank in, but still manageable nonetheless!
So, a little surprise here for some, but this is one level that doesn't actually feature a boss to face off against at the end, although perhaps the three Solid Hunter mobile tanks that are stationed here could give Jutah a run for his money, as they're FAR more advanced than the one confronted in Tarakhan, certainly more flexible and accurate with their unusual pulse beams that aim for you like a homing missle, but also that annoying shield that most decent enemies come equipped with, so timing is key here!
Either that or just take out the one in the center and ignore the other two as you quickly blow up the energy condensers one by one in what is arguably TRUE demolition carnage at it's heart here! Such a splendid sight to behold indeed!
In any case, I hope you enjoyed the video and any constructive comments or criticism is appreciated!
