Let's Play Spec Ops: The Line | Chapter 8: Riggs | The Counteroffensive
1Welcome back to Spec Ops: The Line, a soft reboot of the Spec Ops franchise that changes up the formula, turning a series that was originally meant to be a tactical shooter into a narrative masterpiece. While the game still has remnants of its Tactical Shooter roots, the gameplay focuses far more on the story of Captain Martin Walker, who enters a war-torn Dubai in order to rescue a man he admires, John Konrad, after an evacuation mission involving the 33rd Infantry goes awry. What they find waiting for them in Dubai sets the stage for an explorative and less-mentioned side of warfare that is seldom seen or talked about.
Exiting their storm shelter, Delta had found the darkness setting in Dubai. Taking decisive action, Walker decided that he was going to seek vengeance upon Konrad by attacking him at his home, the tallest tower in all of Dubai, from where he could keep an eye on his kingdom.
But first, they had to enlist the aid of the CIA by contacting Agent Riggs, the only remaining companyman in Dubai.
They found him holding his own against some members of the 33rd. Meeting the old man, it was evident that he was a veteran of Vietnam. He had been recruiting the locals to raise an insurgency against Konrad's occupation of Dubai.
Right then, the Damned breached their compound and tried eliminating Riggs, but the sly fox had the upper hand in the matter.
With the aid of Riggs, Delta proceeded through multiple levels of the former mall with one clear objective in mind: steal the water trucks from Konrad and distribute them amongst the thirsty citizens of war-torn Dubai. And this, Delta was more than happy to do.
They fought their way down to the floor level and eliminated a Hummer right when Riggs arrived with the backup and support of his insurgent force. He handed Walker a Grenade Launcher and told him that he would need it on the road ahead. Walker rolled out on the side of a tanker, standing guard, with Konrad's threats ringing in his ears.
