Let's Play Spec Ops: The Line | Chapter 4: The Pit | Trap | Gould
Welcome back to Spec Ops: The Line, a soft reboot of the Spec Ops franchise that changes up the formula, turning a series that was originally meant to be a tactical shooter into a narrative masterpiece. While the game still has remnants of its Tactical Shooter roots, the gameplay focuses far more on the story of Captain Martin Walker, who enters a war-torn Dubai in order to rescue a man he admires, John Konrad, after an evacuation mission involving the 33rd Mountain Battalion goes awry. What they find waiting for them in Dubai sets the stage for an explorative and less-mentioned side of warfare that is seldom seen or talked about.
Waking up on the street, Walker made a rather inconvenient shortcut for himself and rid himself of all his arms. He got up and tried contacting Lugo and Adams, but neither of them could provide him with a response. Right at that moment, the 33rd arrived on scene, making Walker's first priority to obtain a rifle.
He ambushed the first soldier to get close to him with a melee and took his weapon after executing him. He then used the same weapon to eliminate a few of the other combatants while their backup arrived.
Lugo finally managed to make contact, and now Walker's job was to hold his own while Delta managed to reach him.
After regrouping, they moved onward until they found themselves in the middle of a museum that was being used as a mass grave for the locals as well as a torture-cum-execution chamber for the people of the 33rd, probably those who were considered mutineers.
As they finally approached the source of the signal, they found themselves looking at a long-dead soldier hanging upside down and playing a recording through a speaker put into its mouth. As Walker took the speaker out, he sprung a trap wherein the Radioman made contact with him, letting him know how the trap was meant for someone else called Gould.
Right then, his men arrived to make life difficult for Walker and Co. and Gould arrived on the scene to help them out. Fighting their way through soldiers and following Gould's directions, they ultimately came face-to-face with a Helicopter intent on turning them into Swiss cheese.
While they narrowly managed to escape its final missile, their fate remains unknown for now.
