Let's Play Super Mario Bros. 3 - Part 8: It's a Big World After All
From World 3, we continue to World 4, which...is actually easier than its predecessor. (I remember thinking as a kid that, in Mario games, having the fourth world be easier than the third seemed oddly common....) The theme of this one is that many things are giant-sized, including enemies and blocks. Fittingly, the world is called Big Island. 4-1 is a pretty basic wooden grassland level to introduce you to the world's gimmicks, while 4-2 is another watery bridge level, not unlike 3-2 (or 3-3, minus the evil fish of doom). 4-3 is an underground level that...actually doesn't have much that is giant about it, just the two Sledge Bros. at the start. The first fortress of World 4 introduces a couple new enemies (Thwomps can go sideways now? Is this the only game where they ever do that?), while 4-4 is an underwater level with a Lakitu that is a complete joke if you manage to defeat him early on, probably even if you don't.
