Let's Play Super Mario Bros. 3 - Part 11: Sky-High Secrets
Dang, even when I have a buffer, I'm lousy at uploading every day...oh well. Having swirly-spiral-castle-tower-thingied ourselves up into the sky, we start on the second part of World 5, and the bigger and more important one at that. The sky portion of World 5 is pretty much entirely athletic levels, since most Mario games treat them the same as sky levels. 5-4 is centered on those spinning red platforms we saw in a couple stages in World 3, and 5-5 is mostly Donut Lifts. (Also the White Mushroom House level for this world, though it's probably one of the easier ones to obtain.) 5-6 is an autoscrolling level with Para-Beetles (the only level in the game with Para-Beetles, actually), and 5-7 is a bit slower-paced and has a lot of brick blocks. It also has a pipe that I somehow never thought to try entering, and it also apparently has blocks that contain stars if you're already invincible...but doesn't actually have a star in the level, so you have to use one from the overworld. And by sheer dumb luck, I happened to use one right before this level because I needed to free up an inventory slot. I must emphasize this: I did not know about the star/coin blocks in this level before this, and using a star at that particular time was completely unplanned. It's interesting when serendipity happens like that on camera....
