Well, it's been a while since I've shown THIS hack off...a full 8 months, give or take a few days. And I'm still on World 1. In any case, though, now that I've more or less finished the titlescreen and world clear cutscene coding (still need a background for the former, though, and music for both), I should hopefully be ready to move on. This is the secret level of World 1, actually. The secret levels in this game will be unlocked by reentering the castle stages after beating them while having collected a certain number of blue stars. They will also be longer and harder than the normal levels of their worlds. This one is all about cannons, or various level mechanics that could be construed as cannons. (The moving cannon sprites, incidentally, were harder to code than you'd think...it was one of those things where the basic principle was easy enough, but the micromanagement was a pain and a half.) And if the tileset doesn't look terribly carnival-ish, well, it was the only one that fit that both looked good and didn't clash with the graphical style. Forget about the background. Also, pay no attention to the glitched overworld event at the end there...I haven't really set up all the events properly yet.
